RUEDA de CASINO
What is Rueda De Casino?
If you were at Cincinnati’s Salsa on the Square and saw more than two people dancing salsa together, they would probably be dancing “Salsa Rueda” (officially known as “Salsa Rueda de Casino”).
Salsa Rueda is like square dancing, but for salsa and it is danced in a circle not a square!
In Rueda, two or more couples dance salsa patterns that are directed by one of the dancers, known as the caller. The caller will call out the different salsa turn patterns that usually involves switching partners as leaders and followers progress between partners around the circle.
Many of the moves in Rueda are similar to Cuban style salsa and can be adapted for couple dancing if required.
Although participation is not a requirement we often put on shows for the public and aim to enter competitions.
